This is very firm, but not too hard. The mattress and box spring are not as thick as most I see so this seems lower to the floor, but I got it for my kid so it's okay. I have slept on it to make sure I got my kid a good bed - even though he tells me he loves it.I LOVED seeing the date this was made on the mattress tag - it was the day after I ordered it. My kid and I said we are special because they made this bed just for us (probably the extra "processing time" they need) and I hope they keep doing this. It's a fresh bed!The mattress can be used with our without a box spring (noted on the mattress).I noticed a major difference in the quality of the mattress and the quality of the box spring. The mattress quality is excellent, which matters most. The box spring quality looked like it was used for training - uneven fabric stitching and even a part that looked like it was scraped off. Nonetheless, the price was great.I greatly appreciated being able to pick my delivery time with this with Amazon and the delivery was actually on time with a call 10 minutes before arrival.The packaging was two giant boxes holding the product in thick plastic. It started out very comfortable and still is.. but it has softened quite a bit in the area I sleep the most and I had to pop back in a spring that protruded from the side once (it did not break through the cover) I worry about it's longevity as 5 months is pretty short for the wear I've already experienced.. . my last bed lasted me for 10 years.. this one.. probably not so long..Have had this bed for about two weeks now. So far, so good. It's more on the firm side, but not so firm that it's uncomfortable. I have actually noticed that my back hurts less since I have started sleeping on this bed. It’s my daughter/guest room (she just left for College). Guest love it but my daughter thinks it’s to firm so added pillow top mattress pad and she’s happy. So I would definitely buy again. Great value for the price.It's been almost a year since I've bought this mattress/box spring (it is literally box only wood, no springs) and at first it was a great night sleep (I was in an early stage of pregnancy) but as time went on, the "box spring" became noisy everytime I'd move and mattress started to sink in.Not being pregnant anymore, my baby delivery wasn't fun (had 3 epidurals done since the doctors screwed up each time).. This Mattress sucks!! I have terrible back pain just by laying on my stomach for 2 minutes!! In the market for a better mattress and box spring that I don't have to rotate every other week due to sinking in!!WHILE THE MATTRESS IS FINE, I ORDERED IT WITH A 4 INCH BOX SPRING BECAUSE I AM HANDICAPPED AND SHORT. I RECEIVED A STANDARD 8 INCH BOX SPRING WHICH MAKES IS TOO DIFFICULT FOR ME TO GET IN BED.
